Blue Ravioli and its crosses: Blue Voodoo, Gamma Decay, Auric Stew and Blue Vootwo

01The line itself

Blue Ravioli is a Psilocybe cubensis line that emerged from the American hobby breeding scene in the early 2020s. The name describes the phenotype: a strongly blue-toned fruiting body with a folded, pinched cap that reminded its namer of pasta. Its exact parentage is not well documented, which is common for lines that spread by trade rather than by publication, so the library records it as a named line rather than a cross. Its descendants, by contrast, are fully pedigreed.

02The crosses

• Blue Voodoo (Blue Ravioli x Natal Moon). A What The Fungi original that crosses Blue Ravioli with the Ochra line Natal Moon, making it an interspecies hybrid. Q describes it as pairing "two absolute bangers" and notes several distinct phenotypes within it.
• Blue Vootwo (ACS Blue Voodoo iso). The A.C.S isolation from Blue Voodoo: one phenotype selected and stabilised, in stock now.
• Gamma Decay (Blue Ravioli x Black Betty Gates). Another What The Fungi cross, and the parent of DreadMaw.
• Auric Stew (Bifrost x Blue Ravioli). A cross with the Bifrost line, also from What The Fungi.

Three of the four are What The Fungi originals bred in Australia, and one is an A.C.S isolation from the United States. The card credits whichever breeder did the work.

03Comparing the family on the bench

This is the family to use if you want to see what a parent contributes. Blue Ravioli beside Blue Voodoo shows the Ochra parent's influence in the print: Blue Voodoo deposits tend towards the lighter, browner Ochra type where Blue Ravioli is deep cubensis purple-brown. Blue Voodoo beside Blue Vootwo shows what isolation does: the same lineage, but a tighter spore population from the isolate. Gamma Decay beside DreadMaw tells the same story one branch over.

The blue colouring the family is named for is a feature of the fruiting body, not the spore, so it does not show on the slide. What shows is lineage: shape, size range and deposit colour inherited from each side.
