01What Blue Vootwo is

Blue Vootwo is an isolated Psilocybe cubensis line, catalogued in full as BLUE VOOTWO (ACS Blue voodoo iso). It is the A.C.S isolation taken from Blue Voodoo, and the listing credits the original cross to Q of What The Fungi. The card carries the A.C.S crest because the isolation is their work, while the cross underneath it is his.

02Lineage and history

The pedigree runs three deep and every step is on record:

• Blue Ravioli, a Psilocybe cubensis line from the early 2020s, named for its blue-toned, folded cap. Its own parentage is not well documented, so the library treats it as a named line rather than a cross.
• Natal Moon, a cross of the Ochra species with Phobos, credited to Jeff Karas of The Fungus Frequency.
• Blue Voodoo (Blue Ravioli x Natal Moon), Q's What The Fungi cross of the two, which makes it an interspecies hybrid.
• Blue Vootwo, the A.C.S isolate selected out of Blue Voodoo and stabilised under its own name.

03Under the microscope

This is the card to buy if you want to see what an isolate is. Blue Voodoo, the cross, carries the breadth of two parents and is described by its breeder as throwing several distinct phenotypes. Blue Vootwo is one of those expressions, selected and worked until it comes true. On the measurement sheet that shows as a tighter spore size range from the isolate than from the cross.

Expect a pigmented cubensis spore: subellipsoid, thick-walled, germ pore, purple-brown. The blue colouring the family is named for belongs to the fruiting body and will not appear on your slide. What may appear, in the print, is the Ochra grandparent: deposits from this family can run a shade lighter and browner than a straight cubensis print.
