Bluey Vuitton spores in the UK: the buyer and microscopist guide
Bluey Vuitton is one of the few modern cubensis lines with a written record: two named parents, a named breeder and a date. That makes it unusually good to study, and it is also why the family around it is worth buying as a set rather than one card at a time.
01What Bluey Vuitton is
Bluey Vuitton is a Psilocybe cubensis line supplied as a 10ml spore syringe for microscopy. The library records it as a hybrid of Panama x Melmac Penis Envy, first worked around 2014 by the breeder known as Silly Cybin. Most strain names in circulation have no such paper trail, so a line that carries one is a better teaching specimen than a line that does not.
Both parents show up on the slide. Panama is one of the old regional cubensis lines, named for the locality its founding material came from. The Melmac Penis Envy side carries the Penis Envy inheritance, and that side of the family is known for depositing thinly, which is the single most useful thing to know before you put a Bluey Vuitton print under glass.
02The whole family, in one place
Bluey Vuitton is the pigmented parent of the ABV family, and the value of buying it in the UK is that its descendants are catalogued alongside it rather than scattered across four vendors:
- Bluey Vuitton, the pigmented parent. The reference slide for everything below it.
- Albino Bluey Vuitton (A.C.S iso), the albino isolate worked by A.C.S. One studied phenotype, selected and carried forward.
- ABV, the broader Albino Bluey Vuitton line the isolates came out of.
- ACS ABV440, a numbered A.C.S selection out of the albino line.
- MRRL, a Melmak revert, which sits on the same Penis Envy side of the tree.
Two of those are in stock at the time of writing, and the pairing that teaches the most is the pigmented parent beside any one albino descendant. The Codex entry for Bluey Vuitton holds the pedigree record, and the strain history covers the origin story in full.
03What arrives, and the first ten minutes
A UK order is a 10ml syringe of spores suspended in sterile water, a sterile needle, and glass microscope slides in the box. Every syringe is filled in small batches under sterile protocol, LOT-logged against the print it came from, and refrigerated until it is packed, so the LOT date on your label is recent rather than months old.
- Check the label against the packing note: strain name and LOT.
- Hold the syringe to the light. A fine, even haze is what a good suspension looks like. A milky cloud, strands or anything settling in layers is not.
- Refrigerate it capped and sleeved the same day. The storage guide covers shelf life properly.
- Take a first slide within the week, so your notebook has a baseline for this LOT while it is fresh.
UK shipping is £3.80 and free over £75, dispatched in one to two working days, tracked, in a plain mailer with nothing on the outside to say what is inside.

04Bluey Vuitton under the microscope
Set a drop, coverslip it, and start at 400x. The spores are subellipsoid and thick walled, roughly 11 to 17 micrometres long, purple brown in mass, with a germ pore that resolves cleanly at 1000x under oil. That is the standard cubensis form, and Bluey Vuitton is a good specimen to learn it on because the pigment is strong enough to read the wall without hunting for contrast.
Expect a sparse drop. The Penis Envy inheritance deposits thinly, so a slide that looks empty next to a Golden Teacher print is normal for this line rather than a fault in the syringe. Close the diaphragm partway, lower the condenser slightly, and the walls come up out of the background.
Measure a dozen spores rather than one. Written ranges describe populations, and a single spore tells you almost nothing about where a line sits in that range.
05Reading albino against pigmented
This is where the family earns its place on the bench. Put Bluey Vuitton on one slide and an albino descendant on another, at the same light level, on the same objective, in the same session. The form does not change: same subellipsoid outline, same thick wall, same germ pore. Only the pigment goes.
In mass that difference is obvious. A pigmented deposit runs purple brown; an albino deposit runs pale grey, and that is the fastest bench test of whether a line sold as albino really is albino rather than leucistic. Our note on albino, leucistic and true albino sets out where that line actually falls.
Comparing two unrelated strains teaches you far less, because too many variables move at once. Within one family, pigment is the only variable, which is what makes a controlled comparison possible at all.

06Buying Bluey Vuitton spores in the UK
Four things are worth checking with any UK vendor, and they apply as much to this line as any other:
- Is it LOT-logged? A LOT ties your syringe to a specific print and date, which is what makes a result repeatable.
- Is the family catalogued? Buying the parent and an isolate from the same source means the comparison above is actually controlled.
- Where does it ship from? A UK-to-UK parcel is in the post for one to three days. An overseas order can sit in customs for weeks, and weeks of warmth is what degrades a specimen.
- What is the stated purpose? Spores here are supplied strictly for microscopy, taxonomy and research, and the checkout confirms that.
The buyer checklist goes through the rest of it, including what a good product photograph does and does not tell you.
07Legal use in the UK
MycoWorld supplies spores for microscopy, taxonomy and research only. Spores are sold on that basis, orders are 18+, and nothing here is cultivation guidance or a medical claim. The legal use policy sets out the terms every order is supplied under, and are spore syringes legal in the UK covers the position in more detail. None of it is legal advice.
Questions people ask
What is Bluey Vuitton crossed from?
The library records Bluey Vuitton as a Panama x Melmac Penis Envy hybrid, first worked around 2014 by the breeder Silly Cybin.
Where can I buy Bluey Vuitton spores in the UK?
MycoWorld carries the pigmented Bluey Vuitton and the Albino Bluey Vuitton A.C.S isolate as 10ml spore syringes, posted from the UK with glass microscope slides included, £3.80 shipping and free over £75.
What do Bluey Vuitton spores look like under a microscope?
Subellipsoid and thick walled, roughly 11 to 17 micrometres long, purple brown in mass, with a germ pore visible at 1000x under oil. Expect a thinner deposit than a Golden Teacher type line.
What is the difference between Bluey Vuitton and Albino Bluey Vuitton?
Albino Bluey Vuitton is the unpigmented isolate taken from the same line. The spore form is identical; the pigment is not, so an albino deposit reads pale grey rather than purple brown.
Is Bluey Vuitton good for a first microscopy slide?
It is a good second slide. The pigment reads easily, but the deposit is thin, so a heavier depositing line is a gentler first attempt.
