01What Lucid Gates is

Lucid Gates is an isolated Psilocybe cubensis line in the A.C.S collection carried through Mushrealm. The listing marks it clearly as A.C.S work, which the library does deliberately so that buyers can tell one collection's isolations from another's.

02Lineage and history

The catalogue records the isolation and nothing about a parent cross, so that is the extent of the documented history.

The name is suggestive rather than evidential. Gates appears in several established cubensis names, most prominently Pearly Gates, and the library carries lines such as Rango Gates (Rango APE x Lucid Gates) and Black Betty Gates where the word does the same work. Rango Gates is the useful one here, because its own name records Lucid Gates as a parent, which at least places this line inside a family that breeders have kept crossing.

That is as far as the evidence goes. A naming convention is not a pedigree, and this guide does not turn one into the other. If you want to see how the library draws relationships it can actually prove, the lineage explorer only links cards where a cross is on record.

03Under the microscope

Expect a pigmented cubensis: subellipsoid, thick-walled, germ pore, purple-brown in mass, dense print. The ISO tag means a tight, repeatable spore population, which is the practical reason to choose a worked isolate over a multispore line for comparison work.

If you are building a reference series, this is a good middle card: documented enough to trust, ordinary enough in morphology to serve as a baseline for the more unusual specimens in this chapter such as the Ochra and the mutant lines.
