01What Toque x Jack Frost is

Toque x Jack Frost is an isolated Psilocybe cubensis cross, named after its two parent lines, supplied as a LOT-logged spore syringe. The x means the line was bred from them; it does not mean two things are mixed in the syringe.

02Lineage and history

Jack Frost is the better documented parent. It is a cross of two albino lines: True Albino Teacher (TAT), itself an albino isolation of Golden Teacher, and Albino Penis Envy (APE). It came out of the American hobby breeding community and circulated from around 2020, and it has become one of the most used parents in modern breeding. Toque is the line the library carries in two other forms, Green Toque and El Toque f2 (El Choco x Toque f8). Having the same parent in three cards is what makes this group worth studying together.

Breeders reach for an albino parent because it lets them track a cross visually: if the offspring stay white, the trait carried. That is the whole reason the Jack Frost family is so large.

03Under the microscope

The interesting question with any cross into an albino family is what the offspring inherit. Jack Frost carries unpigmented spores; whether this cross does depends on how the trait segregated, and the honest answer is that a print will tell you faster than any listing.

So take one. A pale grey deposit means the albino trait reached the spores. A normal purple-brown deposit means it did not, whatever the fruiting body looks like. Then put the drop on a slide: pigmented spores read normally, unpigmented ones need the lamp lowered and the condenser diaphragm closed partway. Either way the result belongs in the notebook against the LOT.
